Privacy Policy
pinereel is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data, process payments on a public blockchain, and never sell your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
Information We Collect
pinereel collects only the information necessary to operate the platform. We categorize this into information you provide and information collected automatically.
Information You Provide
- Wallet address — your Solana wallet address, used as your account identifier and for payment processing
- Username and display name — the public name you choose for your creator profile
- Bio, avatar, and social links — optional profile information you choose to share publicly
- Contact email — optional, displayed on your public profile if provided
- Video content — videos, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, genres, and tags you upload
- Reviews — ratings and text reviews you submit on videos
- Reports — content reports you submit, including the reason and details
Information Collected Automatically
- Transaction records — payment amounts, timestamps, and on-chain transaction signatures for all purchases (this data also exists publicly on the Solana blockchain)
- Access grants — records of which wallet addresses have purchased access to which videos, including expiration dates
- Basic server logs — IP addresses and request metadata for security and abuse prevention (retained for a limited period)
How We Use Your Information
- Process payments and verify on-chain transactions between viewers and creators
- Grant and manage access to purchased content based on wallet address
- Display your public profile, videos, and reviews to other users
- Enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- Communicate with you about your account (e.g., moderation actions)
- Generate aggregate platform statistics (total creators, total paid out, etc.) that do not identify individual users
Blockchain Transparency
pinereel uses the Solana blockchain for payment processing. It is important to understand that blockchain transactions are public by nature.
- All USDC payment transactions are recorded on the Solana blockchain and are publicly visible to anyone
- Your wallet address, transaction amounts, and timestamps are part of the public blockchain record and cannot be deleted or modified
- pinereel does not control or have the ability to remove blockchain data
- Anyone who knows your wallet address can view your transaction history on a blockchain explorer
- pinereel does not link your wallet address to your real-world identity unless you choose to provide identifying information in your profile
Third-Party Services
pinereel integrates with the following third-party services to provide platform functionality:
- Web3Auth — authentication, wallet management, and balance top-ups. Purchases made through Web3Auth's payment interface to top up your pinereel balance (USDC) are processed by Web3Auth and their payment partners. Their privacy policy governs any data collected during the purchase process.
- Livepeer — video transcoding and CDN delivery. Uploaded videos are processed through Livepeer's infrastructure.
- Cloudflare R2 — storage for thumbnails and avatar images.
- Solana RPC providers — blockchain communication for payment verification and gas station operations.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these services. pinereel is not responsible for the data practices of third-party providers.
Data Retention
- Account data (wallet address, username, profile) is retained as long as your account exists on the platform
- Payment and access grant records are retained indefinitely for transaction history and access verification purposes
- Video content metadata is retained even after unlisting, to maintain payment and access history for existing buyers
- Server logs are retained for a limited period (typically 30-90 days) and then deleted
- Reports and moderation records are retained for platform safety and repeat-infringer enforcement
Data Sharing
pinereel does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Public profile information (username, bio, avatar, social links, contact email) is visible to all platform users — this is information you choose to share
- Payment data is shared with the Solana blockchain as part of transaction processing (inherently public)
- We may disclose information to law enforcement if required by law, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm or investigate violations of our Terms
- Aggregate, anonymized statistics may be shared publicly (e.g., total platform earnings, number of creators)
Your Rights & Choices
- You can update or remove your optional profile information (bio, avatar, social links, contact email) at any time through your dashboard
- You can unlist your videos to hide them from public browsing, though metadata is retained for existing buyers
- You can stop using pinereel at any time by disconnecting your wallet
- Due to the nature of blockchain transactions, payment records on the Solana ledger cannot be deleted or modified by pinereel or anyone else
- If you wish to request deletion of your off-chain data (profile, reviews, reports), please contact us at support@pinereel.com
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including secure server infrastructure, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls on our databases. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your wallet security is your responsibility. pinereel never has access to your private keys. We strongly recommend using a hardware wallet or a reputable wallet provider and never sharing your private keys or seed phrases with anyone.
Cookies & Local Storage
pinereel uses minimal browser storage for essential functionality only:
- Web3Auth session data — to maintain your login session across page loads
- User preferences — to remember your connected wallet and display settings
- We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics services that track individual users across websites
Children's Privacy
pinereel is not intended for users under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will take steps to terminate the account and delete associated data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. We will notify users of material changes through the platform. Continued use of pinereel after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
